R2.5 Firmware Upgrade Kit Released for AP5 and BP5 Series Terminals
We are excited to announce the release of the R2.5 firmware upgrade kit for the AP5 and BP5 series terminals, including the CPS Starter software version V1.0.48.000. This upgrade brings significant improvements and new features designed to enhance radio performance and user experience.
Key Features of the R2.5 Firmware Upgrade
- Enhanced Channel Access: Reduces call interference to improve communication clarity.
- Call Alert: When receiving a call alert, the radio will emit an alert tone, show LED indications, or display the caller's ID or alias on the LCD screen (available for BP51X and BP56X models only).
- Remote Radio Disable/Enable: Allows remote control of radios to disable or enable functions (activation requires an optional license).
- Remote Monitor: Enables remote audio monitoring of the radio environment (optional license required).
- Quick Team: One radio (Radio A) can broadcast channel information to another radio (Radio B) for streamlined communication.
Enhancements and Improvements
- New icons indicate whether the radio is in standby or transmitting mode.
- Added an icon to show if CTCSS can be transmitted or received on analog channels.
- User interface and broadcast voice features are now available in Spanish for both the radio and the CPS software.
Important Upgrade Notes
- Radios upgraded to version 2.5 are not compatible with licenses from version 1.5. Please contact us to obtain the appropriate license for version 2.5.
- Only radios with firmware version 1.5 or later can be directly upgraded to version 2.5.
- Radios with versions 1.0, 1.1, or 1.2 must first be upgraded to 1.5 before proceeding to version 2.5.
Known Issues in Release R2.5
- Radio Check functions between BP565 and BP515 in both RMO and DMO modes, but does not work between BP565 and HP685 in RMO mode (works in DMO).
- Text Messaging works between BP515 and BP565 in RMO and DMO, but not between HP685 and BP565 in RMO (works in DMO).
- The Remote Radio Disable/Enable feature is displayed differently on BP565 (“Radio Kill”/“Radio Revive”) compared to H-Series terminals (“Radio Disable”/“Radio Enable”).
- When a BP565 is disabled, the display shows “Radio Killed,” whereas the HP685 shows “Radio Disabled.”
- Radio Disable/Enable commands work between BP565 and HP685 in RMO
